Welcome to CUTR - RAPTS

The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) under contract with the FDOT Public Transit Office has established a Resource for Advanced Public Transportation Systems (RAPTS) program designed to provide technical expertise, facilitate information exchange, and foster statewide coordination and cooperation to ensure successful and cost effective deployment of ITS/APTS technologies throughout the State of Florida.

  • Annual Work Program
The RAPTS annual work program, now in its 3rd year, includes networking efforts such as a brochure and newsletters, the collection, synthesis, and maintenance of a a Statewide ITS/APTS Inventory database, an APTS Data Mining/Analysis program, and other APTS-related activities.
  • Brochure
The RAPTS brochure will be expanded this year to incorporate data and figures resulting from the collection and synthesis of the Statewide Inventory.
  • Newsletters
RAPTS Newsletters will be produced on a bi-annual basis and will provide updates on current RAPTS activities and relevant APTS technology articles, training sessions, and upcoming events.
  • Data Mining
The data mining task continues its analysis of how raw data generated from APTS technologies can be converted into meaningful and useful information for transit planning and management. A web-based application prototype (ADAMS) will be developed and tested.
  • APTS Concepts Plan
CUTR will develop a background research paper that will discuss the rationale of a statewide APTS plan. In addition, CUTR will refine and finalize the existing draft scope of work for the statwide APTS concepts plan, describing the overall rationale for the plan; the specific tasks, activities and strategies needed to make the project successful; policy and goal areas to be addressedl and cost estimates for the preparation of such a plan.
  • APTS Technology Procurement
This task will explore the feasibility of setting up a statewide APTS technology procurement program similar in concept to FDOT's existing vehicle procurement program designed to reduce costs through volume purchases.
  • NTI APTS Training Workshop
This task allows for the coordination of an NTI sponsored ITS/APTS training workshop in Florida. CUTR will also conduct a survey of participating agencies to understand additional training needs.
